Although established in 1979 by Shigeharu Tagakiand it wasn’t until 1986 that Studio D’Artisan created it’s iconic DO–1 Jean. Having worked previously in France, SDA takes it inspiration from a French perspective on Americana and through their own production always looking to push beyond the original. A vanguard product with the soul of Made in Japan.

Regular Straight fit

”Ishikawadai” was manufactured by Ishikawa Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Among the spinning machines currently in operation in Japan it is considered the oldest. Compared to the latest ring spinning machines, the speed is about a third so the productivity is slow and of a low quantity. It therefore takes advantage of the original gentle texture of cotton. Cotton has its own natural expression and this process creates an uneven feeling like hand spinning. Indigo dyeing of warp yarn does not damage the unique texture of this cotton. The yarn refining process, which is normally carried out, is omitted, and like vintage denim at the time Indigo dyeing make it uneven. In order to reproduce the denim of 1953 the entire process is intentionally carried out using this low–tech method. The product made with “Ishikawadai Denim”

Postage within the UK is £8.00 and will be provided by DHL EXPRESS – a fully tracked next business day service. If we receive your order by 12.00pm Monday – Friday, we will get it to you next business day. If you order after 12.00pm on Friday then your order will leave on the following Monday.
