Samurai Jeans was established in Osaka in 1998 based on the concept that jeans ultimately have no value unless the creator and wearer are united in their commitment. They strive to create fabrics with unique texture and atmosphere, pushing the envelope of what is possible with denim by paying close attention to the provenance of the cotton types they use, their characteristics, the shape of the threads they spin, while also striving to use traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques rather than the more modern and generic methods found elsewhere. Kuromame SJST–SC04 Japanese cotton Polo T–shirt
This cut–and–sew project uses Samurai Cotton and a No. 10 uneven yarn for denim, produced using the same spinning process as Zero 17oz, knitted into a plain jersey and fleece fabric. This special and unique yarn has a hard and uneven texture due to the strong twist that is unique to Zero denim yarn, and also has the original texture and flavor of Samurai Cotton, which has left behind cotton lint and cotton residue.
By carefully knitting this yarn into fabric, it has a unique heavy and uneven expression and texture, and while it is rough and uneven, it is a fabric that also feels soft and warm. The same yarn is also used to knit the rib.
